Having a female combatant be front-and-center for a WW2 game isn't "cool" or noble, it's just plain silly and distracting. The greatest shame is that Battlefield V's excellent gameplay may forever be overshadowed by DICE's absurd SJW push. 3D spotting was a terrible crutch that plagued Battlefield for many years, and I'm happy as hell DICE finally nerfed it into oblivion this time around. It also directly benefits you because the entire opposing team can't track your exact position the moment a single person looks in your direction and presses a button. It feels so good to actually have to visually identify targets for once, and not spam the "spot" key every single time you see a player for fear of not getting "spot points" or losing track of them. Also, the near-complete lack of 3D spotting is a godsend. Gunplay feels as good as it's ever been and teamwork is emphasized to the highest degree thanks to the limited ammo and non-regenerating health. Not only does it beat the brakes off that cruddy snow map, but it's arguably one of the best city maps in Battlefield history (easily up there with Amiens from BF1). Rotterdam is the map we needed in the alpha. Just wanted to pop in and say that the beta has been great so far.
Bad marketing, and bad PR when said marketing was met with backlash. People waiting to pounce on EA for the Star Wars bullshit(among MANY other things). If there was just some part of the campaign where it switched to this female amputee sniper, and it was a great section of the game, I would wager a lot of people would've thought it was bad ass, and wouldn't spend a second thought thinking of how "realistic" it was, or if it was trying too hard to pander to a certain audience. If that character had just simply been in the game, and not advertised heavily, people wouldn't have said shit about it. In fairness, the reaction to it was a little overblown too. People can smell the bullshit, and the whole "SJW's ruin everything" is a sentiment, fair or not, that is catching on in the entertainment industry, and people are starting to get turned off by it. The problem with how Battlefield went about it, is that it's forced. Much like LoL, or WOW, or a whole host of other ridiculously popular games. All sorts of people just happened to like it.
